2015 Makeup Favorites!

Ola! Bella’s!

Year 2016 is literally just hours away. Honestly, I am a little bit sad because 2015 is almost over and I should say (and thankful), I had a blast this year. However, I am more of excited for what the upcoming year is going to bring us. So, get it on 2016!.

As I am comfortably seated in my couch and reminiscing, I thought of sharing with you the makeups that turned out to be my favorites for this “almost past” year.

FACE

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse

Just so you know I do have sensitive skin, that is why I am very careful in choosing the right product before applying it to my face or else I will surely suffer from severe breakouts. Luckily, this mousse from Maybelline matched my skin type. I am in the shade of Classic Ivory – Light 2.

On the packaging, it claims to provide an Airbrush Finish which I found true in my case but ONLY when you apply it using a Flat top brush otherwise it will just provide you with a dewy finish.

The product is very blendable, stored in a pump container which is always a plus, it did not make me breakout and is not heavy in the face.

  • Coverage – Light to Medium
  • Consistency – Watery
  • Amount – 30 ml
  • Cost – P599.00
  • Available at Watsons

Essence Pure Skin BB Cream

I am so in love with most of the Essence Products and this BB Cream is no exception. My favorite thing about this BB cream is the way it is formulated for Asian skin. It leaves my face with a dewy glow plus it did not make me breakout as well.  I am in the shade 20 – Natural.

I noticed that upon application, it glides smoothly in the face, feels very light, and most importantly it has SPF 30 PA +++ which is awesome.

  • Coverage – Light to Medium
  • Consistency – Watery with a very slight thickness
  • Amount – 30 ml
  • Cost – P319.00
  • Available at Watsons

Essence all about matt! Fixing Compact Powder

My Holy Grail! I learned about this translucent powder last 2013 and believe me I never ran out of it ever since. I am pre-ordering my stocks from an online shop at Instagram because oftentimes it is not available at Essence counters due to its strong demands. I like that it blends with the skin well until you cannot find a trace of it, but will leave the face mattified yet still very natural looking.  It serves as perfect finishing powder and very affordable.

This is the one product that I use almost everyday. For my office look, I use it as a finishing powder on top of my BB cream and on my foundation during special occasions.

  • Finish – Matte
  • Amount – 8 grams
  • Ordered from @BeautyShopPH
  • Cost – P200.00 from an online-shop / P269.00 at Watsons

EYES

Essence I Love Stage Eye Shadow Base

Yup! Another Essence product, I told you I love them! Mainly, it is for the reason that most of their makeups are very cheap but of really good quality. I have read and watched several good reviews about this eye primer from beauty enthusiasts and decided to give it a try and baby it’s worth it!

I am glad that it comes with a doe- foot applicator which makes me to apply the product easily on my eyelids. When blended, it turns matte on the skin. The product really hold to its claims that it will make the application of eye shadow better and let it stay longer.

  • Consistency – Just the right thickness
  • A little goes a long way
  • Amount – 4 ml
  • Cost – P200.00
  • Available at Watsons

Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara

Extreme Volume it is! I often receive compliments from friends whenever I am wearing this mascara, it is as if I am wearing natural looking falsies. Aside from the thick consistency of the mascara, the secret lies on the design of the wand. At first, I had a hard time applying the mascara into may lashes because of the big  bristles of the wand  but later on i got used to it. I should warn you though that one coat is enough otherwise your lashes will look “spidery”.

Here are pictures of me wearing the mascara.

  • Consistency – Thick
  • Amount – 12 ml
  • Color – Ultra Black
  • Cost – P190.00
  • Got mine from @BeautyShopPH

Maybelline The Hyper Curl Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara

I am instantly attracted with the gorgeous packaging of this mascara. In addition, I like that it is waterproof and how enjoyable to apply the product using the specially designed wand suited to the shape of the lashes. I do not agree however that it gives volume but it really will maintain and accentuate the curl of the lashes with the help of course of a lash curler. The price is budget friendly too.

  • Consistency – Thin
  • Color – Very Black
  • Cost – P150.00
  • Available at Watsons and Landmark

LIPS

IMG_9463
MAC – Ruby Woo and Colourpop Lippie Stix – Lumiere

I preferred Matte lippies than shimmery ones, for the reason that I find them more manageable and long lasting. Now, if you are looking for the perfect RED lipstick, Ruby Woo is the bomb! The vivid red color made my teeth and skin whiter and my lips to pop. The pigmentation is amazing and has a sort of waxy consistency.

Applying the product on the lips can be a lot easier if you will put a hydrating lip balm first. Doing so will also protect the lips from drying because the waxy consistency of the lip stick can brought a toll on the lips.

This is a picture of me with the lipstick on.

  • Consistency – Thick and sort of waxy
  • Color – Retro Red (Matte)
  • Amount – 3 grams
  • Cost – P1000.00
  • Got mine from MAC Store at SM The Block

My other favorite lipstick this year is the Colourpop Lippie Stix in the shade of Lumiere. It has also a matte finish and it is such a perfect mauve color for me. It is creamy, easy to apply and surprisingly hydrating on the lips even it is matte.

I discovered this shade while watching the youtube channel of Ms. Kathleen Lights , a beauty blogger with 1.6 million subscribers. She partnered with Colourpop Cosmetics and actually created this shade  herself.

  • Consistency – Thick and creamy
  • Color – Lumiere Matte
  • Amount – 1.0 gram
  • Cost – P400.00
  • Purchased from an on-line shop – forgot the name already 😥

This is not really a makeup but more of a skin care product. I have been using this lip balm for years now and it works really well in hydrating my lips and repairing it from the effects of drying lipsticks that I apply. I prefer it more than my EOS Lip balm.

  • Color – Colorless
  • Amount – 1o grams
  • Cost – less than P200.00
  • Available at Watsons

There you have it guys! This coming year, I will explore more makeup products from various brands so I can do reviews on them for you.

Lets all be Gorgeous this upcoming 2016!!!

  1. Thank you so much for featuring all your make-up faves for 2015. Just like you, i love makeup.. and just like you, i have also discovered Essence makeup recently.. i usually buy it at SM southmall… my faves are the matt mousse soft creamy foundation. It is so good yet very inexpensive. They have this powder blush that seems like magic. Just a little goes a long way. Instant blush. Just be careful of not putting much. I also tried their lipsticks and eyeshadows especially the grey color. I tried their face powder but it seems its a bit dark for my skin color.. it was the lightest so they said but i dont think so. It may be out of stock.. i have yet to try the other products you mentioned. Im excited to go back to that Essence stall.. i hope i can find some of the products you mentioned. I will also try maybelline liquid mousse foundation. I have tried their matts but it didnt quite work for me. My skin seems dry using it… Thanks so much ! Would await your next blogs… Godbless ! 😊

    1. Hi Susan! Thank you for leaving a comment.

I haven’t tried the Matt Mousse Soft Creamy foundation yet, but it is always available on Essence counters, so maybe I can also give it a try. For the blush I am using their Silky Touch blush (is that what your are referring to?)
and my favorite lippie is the All About Cupcake Shade, it’s perfect for everyday use plus it has a very “yummy” scent to it.

Maybe you should try to apply a moisturizer first in your face before putting on matt foundations to avoid or lessen dryness.

I am so happy that I am able to share my insights about makeup and learn also from other makeup enthusiasts like you.

      Thanks again Susan! 🙂
