I cannot justify enough how it is important to remove everything from the face before going to bed. I know that there are times when we feel too “tamad” (lazy) after office or school and it seemed like skin care is a massive work for us to do.
For times like these, there are micellar waters. Just get a cotton pad and saturate it with it, sweep it on the entire face (no need to rub) and that’s it! Congratulations, you have just cleansed, remove your makeup and moisturized at the same time. Cool right?!
The thing about Micellar waters is their price point, brands like Bioderma, Avene and Happy Skin cost at around P600.00 to P700.00 a bottle, pretty expensive for just a water-based makeup remover. It is a marvelous move for Maybelline to release their version of this product for just P199.00 for every 200 ml bottle.
Okay, so you might be wondering what is micellar water? According to Wikipedia, Micellar water contains micelles which are tiny molecules that is being disperse in a solvent (in this case water). It is so tiny that it can penetrate the pores and get rid of dirt and gunk. What’s more interesting is that it does not have any trace of harsh ingredients like alcohol and what not. Basically it is just plain water with a “molecule fairy”. It is so gentle it also moisturizes the face at the same time.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
This micellar water claims to:
- Remove all makeup and UV products
- Hydrates the face
- Remove trapped dirt and dust and refine pores
- Freshens like a toner
- No need to rinse
- Suitable for sensitive skin
It has no fragrance, alcohol and oil free.
The packaging is just plain and simple. A clear plastic bottle container with a pink removable cap.
After using the product for weeks now, I can say that my impression is as real as it’s claims. It definitely removes all the makeup in my entire face which includes my bb cream, bb powder, liquid-based blush, mascara, brow makeup and lip stick. Two fully soaked cotton rounds are enough to clean my face but I used to use a third cotton round to really make sure that no residue is left.
It is completely odorless, it’s as if your are just sweeping water on your face. No sticky feeling or whatsoever. After the process, I feel that my face is hydrated and refreshed. Though micellar waters also has the capacity to provide moisture to the face, I still apply a little amount and toner as the last step. But for those days that all we want is to lay in bed and relax, you can totally omit the moisturizing part.
This product is indeed suitable for sensitive skin.
