DIY Birthday Cake for Dogs + Domo’s 3rd Barkday at the Mall

– Show your love with a Cake 🙂

When my fur baby Domo celebrated his first and second barkday, I ordered a special dog cake (which he did not liked that much) and a dog-designed cake for him. Now on his third, I created or rather “assembled” haha! … a fruity peanut butter cake which I finished in just a jiffy, using ingredients that are already available in my kitchen. Absolutely no baking and mixing involved! Domo, Ryan and I loved it! – yes its for hoomans too 😉

These are the INGREDIENTS that I used for Domo’s Fruity Peanut Butter Cake:

  1. Peanut butter (I specifically used a less fat and creamy peanut butter).
  2. Butter Cake Slice (Domo is not lactose intolerant).
  3. Strawberries and Blueberries (you can also use banana, apple or orange).

STEP 1: Wash the berries and cut the strawberries into thin slices each.

STEP 2: Connect and secure the two cakes together using a toothpick or small barbecue stick. Cut the edges of the cake for it to be perfectly aligned with each other.

STEP 3: Coat the cake with a generous amount of peanut butter – now this is the part where you will need to be extra careful. Since the cake slices are soft, you have to have a light hand in spreading the peanut butter. TIP! For the edges or filling in gaps, you can improvise a piping bag by putting the peanut butter on a plastic bag, squeeze it and cut a tiny hole at the tip. Take note: The “peanut butter frosting” shouldn’t have to be perfect.

STEP 4: Put the berries on top of the cake. You can create patterns or be more creative in terms of the design.

STEP 5: Refrigerate the cake for four to five hours but I did mine overnight. This will make the peanut butter harden a bit and adhere to the cake nicely.

STEP 6: Add candles to complete the whole birthday cake vibe.

And that was it! Told you it was fast *wink. I chose a peanut butter that is not too sweet because the cake slices has its own sweetness already. It smells good and “peanuty” while a kick of sourness from the berries makes the taste even better.

We love our fur-babies as much as we love our family, well… actually they are already part of the family. Just like everyone else, they also deserve to have a birthday celebration of their own. My baby boy was so happy – we can see it through his eyes 🙂
